AI Capex Turns Into a Credit Event

The week's defining force was AI capex turning into a credit event. Oracle's five-year CDS widened to 288 basis points and CoreWeave's 2032 bond yielded 14.8%. By Friday, Meta's raised full-year 2026 capex guidance floor of $135-145 billion, alongside Q3 negative free cash flow of $2.12 billion, had helped drag the Nasdaq to its worst day since June. The same doubt that re-rated the neoclouds repriced the S&P 500. Then the haven trade flipped: Treasuries logged their biggest yield drop since the 2023 banking crisis while France's 10-year OAT cleared 5% and Brent touched $117. The market is no longer asking whether AI spending is big enough; it is asking who funds it, at what rate, and against what collateral. That question now sets the price of everything else, and hyperscaler capex guidance is the first honest test.
